Eating right, sleeping well, good exercise, and a peaceful mind is the best formula for feeling good or even better. A consistent yoga practice that is right for your body will help with all of these things. The benefits of yoga can permeate into every aspect of your life
I like to think of yoga as a preventative medicine that will keep many ailments and injuries out of your body. Not to mention it feels good. If you have tried yoga classes and they did not feel right for you I strongly recommend a private yoga session. Every body is different. The shape of our bones can vary by as much as 40 percent. The tightness of ligaments and strength of muscle can vary even more. I cannot stress enough the importance of personalizing your yoga experience.
Thirteen years ago I had an amazing yoga experience. I grew measurably taller and felt tremendous peace in my own body. I have been looking to recreate that sensation ever since. Sharon Cooper had helped me create that elusive yoga experience. She teaches from a very still place and works with what you have. She teaches Hatha, prenatal/postpartum, private and custom classes. I am so very happy I found her. Sharon Cooper (917) 579-0113 secooper1@yahoo.com
If you are looking for more hands on mechanical guidance with your body I recommend private Pilates sessions with Kim Kuznitz (bentmovement.com). The creation of Pilates was influenced heavily by yoga but mixed with more external control and resistance for rehabilitation. Kim has helped me redefine my spine and stomach. I recommend her to anyone who wants a healthy, injury resistant, and pleasing core. Her studio is currently on 9th and 54th. Kim Kuznitz (212) 246-4556
