If I am not the right fit I might be able to help you find someone better. There are a lot of therapists in this city. A lot of them are really very good. I recommend trying several therapists because you will never know when you will find the perfect massage. When you do find a therapist you like I recommend sticking with them. There is a lot to be gained by allowing this professional relationship to develop. You will become familiar with her touch and she will become accustomed with your preferences. Your massage can become more relaxing, customized, efficient and effective.
If you find your therapist in a spa or clinic I recommend trying to see if they work privately. If you become a client of the therapist instead of a customer of the spa you are likely to get a more focused attentive massage. The following therapists are my personal favorites. I am more than willing to travel over an hour one way to get the right massage. These are people that can deliver the right massage for me. I am sure your experience will be completely different but of the same high quality. If any of the following people interest you please give me your contact information and I will pass it along.
Nicole fluxgrrl@gmail.com Nicole is perhaps my least accessible or available therapist. She lives in Green Point. She generally does not work out of her home or an office. Her outcalls require that you have a table. She is working on acquiring office space but until then you may have to work with her at a spa. It is worth the trouble. Nicole is specific and strong and will set you right. If it was possible for me to work with her regularly her massage would be my bread and butter.
Alexis Alexis is a dancer. I don’t mean that she is doing massage just to support her dancing. I mean that all the grace and flow and discipline I can imagine flow through her hands. She gives a solid massage that will address your problems specifically but there is something more. If you would like a clean, clear, professional, massage that will leave you feeling like your body has been embraced by a golden sunset and refreshed by a cool ocean breeze then get on her table. It’s worth the trip to Brooklyn.
Mark (917) 439-7301 I sometimes have reservations about sending clients to men because while strong they often lack sensitivity. I would recommend this particular man to anyone with out reservation. There is something refreshing about how good and wholesome he is. Mark gives a good solid massage and excels in specific and medical work. When it is time for me to have my fascia rearranged I call Mark. He works out of his home in Brooklyn and also in a clinic in Manhattan.
Fay (212) 662-4108 simpsonf@rcn.com I love Fay. I often refer to Fay as my mentor, although not to her face because her ego is almost as large as mine. Her work is aggressive, constructive, efficient, and spiritual. It is the kind of work I would not trust coming from anyone else. Fay has a well earned sense of confidence and direction. Her massages make me think of the rigorous and spiritual training of Shaolin Kung Fu. Your experience will probably differ. Fay also teaches theater and dance. Her work with opening chakras is particularly interesting to me. She works out of her home on 101st and Broadway. I am honored to remain in her training.
Jessica (845) 300-7667 Jessica Works in West Nyack. She is only at the bottom of the list because you can not get to her office by subway. She is actually closer to me by motorcycle than Brooklyn. She works exclusively for herself and massage is her primary focus. If you can leave the city I strongly recommend trying her work. She currently has the most to offer that I want to integrate into my own work. A massage from Jessica is solid therapeutically and energetically grounding. She has all the depth, flow, and specificity to make a truly amazing experience. Apart from being a beautifully pleasant person Jessica also evokes a sense of acceptance and an absence of judgment. This serene energetic atmosphere in combination with her graceful skills creates a massage of unmatched perfection.
There are several other therapists that are just as good and may be better for you specifically. They are not on this list because they are not currently part of my personal continuing education. If you don’t see what you need let me know and I may be able to help you further.
The following are non-massage therapists. I recommend them to you.
Chris expressivearts@sbcglobal.net Chris is an amazing therapist and a beautiful person. If ever I am jealous of another persons work it is of hers. Chris helps people redefine their lives. So many of the rules that hinder us are negotiable or down right made up. Chris will hold your hand and help you experience the pain of these restraints so that you can see clear to untanglement. She will hold and support all of you as you feel things that have been too scary or hard to feel. On the other side of this unpleasantness there is room to shift and move into something with more freedom. Chris will help you recognize your feelings, spirit, love and hate as real valuable things. She will help you realize that you, your own being is the most important thing. Chris helps me see fears and helps me feel ok about letting them go. Thank you Chris. Chris is currently working in San Diego.
